International Event Will Bring
Hope to Dallas Homeless
“Changing Lives, Changing the World”
Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 6:00-9:30p.m.
At the InterContinental Hotel-Dallas
DALLAS, October 12, 2009/Operation Care Dallas, Inc./ -- On Saturday evening, October 17, an international crowd will gather at the InterContinental Hotel in Dallas to show support and raise funds for Operation Care Dallas, a local ministry to the homeless of the D/FW Metroplex.
Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. for a silent auction, featuring custom and rare jewelry from the Orient. The main event begins at 6:00 p.m. and will include dinner and special entertainment. Guests will enjoy live music by Grammy-nominated and international award-winning pianist, Dr. Enoch Fernando, whohas performed in more than 4,000 concerts around the world. There will also be a special performance by Pastor Dan Dean, a member of “Phillips, Craig, and Dean,” one of the most respected Christian vocal groups in the world.
This will be an international night, and guests are asked to wear their traditional custom evening attire. There will be attendees from the Philippines, India, Africa, and the U.S. to represent Operation Care Dallas, Operation Care Philippines, Operation Care India, and Operation Care Africa. International guests include: Dan Dean (musical guest), American; Enoch Fernando (musical guest), Indian; Susie Jennings (Founder of Operation Care Dallas), Filipino; Patricia Morris (Founder of Birthday Blessings), Brazilian; and Lovina Iheke (Founder of River of Life Ministries), African.
The event will feature two additional ministries born out of Operation Care Dallas: Birthday Blessings (giving birthday parties for homeless children) and River of Life Ministry (providing transitional homes for the homeless).
Operation Care Dallas was founded by Susie Jennings. In 1993, Susie saw many unmet spiritual and basic physical needs within the homeless community of the D/FW Metroplex. She launched a grassroots movement which quickly became Operation Care-Dallas, Inc. As a result, each year tens of thousands of homeless men, women and children have received basic life sustaining needs.
“I thank God for using Operation Care Dallas as His instrument in reaching out to our homeless in Dallas and other parts of the world,” said Jennings. “We have seen the incredible impact of Operation Care Dallas, both locally and now internationally. It is wonderful to see so many people join together for the common purpose of blessing the homeless!”
All proceeds for this event will go to the “Christmas Gift 2009” event at the Dallas Convention Center on December 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to help serve over 10,000 homeless men, women and children. This December’s event will honor homeless veterans, as Operation Care invites veterans from the five branches of the military: army, navy, marines, coast guard, and air force.
