Labor Day!!  When I was a kid, I loved this day.  It meant no school.  Teachers and school staff were off for the day, because it was Labor Day.

When we were young, we were told that Labor Day was a day to honor those who work all year long.

I'm sure many grown-ups today tell their children the same thing.

This morning, thinking everyone is off from work, I drove and saw that many businesses were opened.  I went to a local store and talked to the person at the register and asked him a question.  For some reason, he didn't look as happy as he normally was.  I was wondering why this worker was not so happy on this day.

I'm on my way out to Wal-mart now.  I wonder how I will be greeted when I walk in.

Well, my son went to work this morning because the store that he is working for is having a Labor Day Sale.  I think the malls all around town are also open for the same reason: an opportunity to capture those who are off today for Labor Day, for those who go shopping on a day like this, for those who like to take advantage of the holiday sales around town.

Well, quite interesting, is it Labor Day or not?  My thoughts are, yes it is.  If you are working for a bank or the postal service, you will be off today.  If you are working for some major company, yes, you're probably off today.  But it seems that those who labor the hardest are working today.

Still, I LOVE this holiday!  It is a day for many of those who work hard all year long to be thanked by the community for their great service, great patience, great help all year long.

On behalf of our DFW  Business Network, we salute all of you for your great service and hard work.  For those who labor for us, we have a beautiful community, a wonderful place to work, live and shop all year long because of you!

Have A Happy Labor Day!!  Enjoy it!

Original composer singing the immortal tribute to those who labor for all of us.  A piece of Americana!. Enjoy.
